Mid-Valley League Champions
In the last Mid-Valley League match ever, West Valley forced first-place Hanford into a shootout at Cottonwood Field (Yakima) and the Rams defeat dropped them into a tie with Sunnyside for second place. Hanford took an early 2-0 lead on to their 3-2 shootout win, but West Valley kept it interesting by scoring the tieing goal at the 55:00 minute mark. This was John Stump's second goal of Tuesday's match coming off an assist from Junior Ayala.

The Falcons, however, scored four times in the shootout to West Valley's two with the Falcons claiming an undefeated MVL seson to close out this era of Falcon soccer.

With West Valley and Sunnyside having recorded 8-4 league records and 25 points, a playoff for the league's No. 2 regional seed will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Wapato.

The winner will enter the double-elimination bracket of regional play, traveling Saturday to the site of the Greater Spokane League's No. 1 Class 3A seed (either East Valley-Spokane or Cheney). The loser, in single-elimination play, will host Prosser, the Mid-Valley's No. 5 team, Saturday.
