State Tournament - Third Place
Juanita’s Frank Garber repeated as state champion when he beat Interlake’s Patrick Sato on the first playoff hole.

Southridge’s Nick Mandell and Hanford’s Tanner Martin tied for eighth at 153, 10 strokes back of the leaders.

Martin said he didn’t finish well.“I was looking at third place, and I had a quad on 16 that knocked me out of it,” he said. “It was a 430-yard, par-4 into the wind, and I cut my drive into the weeds.”

Martin said it was bittersweet.“I was hitting my irons well,” he said. “My one drive messed me up. It was really tough. There was standing water on the greens.”

Martin’s teammates — Thomas Hannu (17th place), Zach Betzsold (22) and Ezra Arneson (28) — finished high enough to help the Falcons finish third as a team.

Team scores — 1. Interlake 111.5; 2. O’Dea 87.5; 3. Hanford 84.5.
