Craig Nelson was a Falcon baseball follower throughout his life. When the time came for him to perform in high school, Craig stepped up and did an outstanding job. Craig was a member of the 1987 State Championship team, and was the starting pitcher and first baseman his junior and senior seasons.
In 1989, Craig pitched the Falcons in to their third State Campionship series. Craig threw an outstanding game, but Hanford was defeated by the Prairie High School Falcons (located in Vancouver, WA) in a close 4 to 3 game. Craig led the Falcons in pitching statistics his senior season with an 8 and 2 record with an Earned Run Average (ERA) of 1.08. Craig was voted co-captain by his 1989 teammates.
Craig was selected All-Mid Valley League for two years. He was also selected to play in the State Feeder games in his senior year and was selected to play in the All-State games. Craig went on to play baseball at Spokane Community College and Columbia Basin College.
