Michael Gamble   Track Class of 2003

The Boys State Champion 4x400 Relay Team of Brian Seely, Michal Gutowski and Mike Gamble, and Aaron Gunn was amazing! Steadily improving during the season, the foursome grabbed the attention of the rest of the State by winning the Regional title by over six seconds and headed to the State meet with the number one seeded time of 3:21.59.

At State, as with Regionals, Brian started off. Brian was a fine middle distance/distance runner who also competed at state in cross country. Brian loved getting his team off to a strong start and did that day running his leg under the elusive 50 second mark. Brian then handed off to his close friend and fellow cross country runner, Michal Gutowski. Michal worked very hard and saw significant improvement during his senior year in both the 800 as well as the relay. Michal solidified the lead and began the runaway victory with another sub 50 second split. Next came Mike Gamble. Mike was a sprinter that was willing to do the work to become a fine 400 runner. When he got the baton, his job was to maintain the lead. He not only did this, but extended it and gave the baton off to the fourth runner, Aaron Gunn.

A fine effort was made by the Bainbridge team, led by an inspiring anchor leg by the 800 meter state champion, but our team quickly dashed all their hopes. And with those quick strides, the Falcons were officially state champions, in a new school record of 3:20.55.
