Mac Tuiaea   Basketball and Football Class of 1995

Football (1994)

Mac was clearly the best big man athlete ever to play football at Hanford High School (HHS). At times Mac was so dominating; the opposing coaches would simply be awestruck. The phrase “Man vs. Boys” was often mentioned when watching Mac play as a Falcon student-athlete. He earned All Conference honors on both sides of the ball and was selected to play in the All-State football game. At the end of his tenure at HHS, Mac was recruited by Nebraska, Stanford, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, and Michigan; and finally selecting the University of Washington, where he was the first true freshman to start and play for four years. Since his graduation, there has not been a greater big-man athlete and gentler young man than Mac at HHS.

Basketball (1995)

Mac was an exceptional basketball and football player at Hanford High School (HHS). He led the basketball team with his hard work and selflessness. As a Varsity starting center for three seasons, he accumulated amazing stats in rebounding, blocked shots, and scoring. He helped establish HHS boys’ basketball as one of the most competitive in the Mid-Valley League and the State Tournament. You can imagine that Mac was a very intimidating presence at both ends of the court. In his senior year, with Mac as a captain and leader, the HHS boys won the District title and finished 7th at the State Tourney. A fine citizen as well as a great player -- Mac always gave his best!
