2003 State Softball Champions   Softball 2003

The 2003 season of Hanford softball was truly a team of destiny. Lead by seniors Holly Krzan, Tallie Pulsipher and Ana Oliver, the Falcons won their League, District and Regional titles before setting their sights on the State Championships in Tacoma.

While preparing to practice on Tuesday before the tourney, Morgan noted aloud that only four more games needed to be won. The Falcons took notice and promptly took care of business. Hanford beat Liberty 7-1 to open the tournament and then faced a confident Skyline in the afternoon game. Meg was brilliant as she battled the talented squad with a mixture of breaking balls and heat. The Falcons persevered by scoring two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh (2-1) to continue the quest for the championship medal.

On Saturday morning the Falcons continued to hammer the ball as they dispatched Sedro Woolley 5-1 and stormed into the championship game. Shorecrest (22-3) won the toss and that proved to be their last win of their season as the (27-1) Falcoms claimed a 6-5 victory and the 3A State Championship.

Holly Krzan, Meg Barker, Morgan Rulon, Danielle Woodford and Jackie Travis were awarded All State recognition by the Seattle Times. Krzan continued her playing career at the University of Alabama/Birmingham and the future HHS Falcons of 2004 were subsequently recognized as one of the top 25 high school softball programs in the nation as noted by USA Today.
